NAME: Hafiz Ali
My major research experience lies in the field of Remote sensing, GIS and Environmental Protection. I did my bachelor in Space Science from the University of the Punjab, Lahore Pakistan. For further studies, I enrolled as Master’s student in University of Applied Sciences in Stuttgart, Germany, where I engaged in different projects related to Photogrammetry, remote sensing and GIS.
During my graduation I worked as Research Assistant on threshold definition method for stream network in watershed delineation. Also, I instructed Python basics to the Master’s Students of Photogrammetry and Geoinformatics at the University of Applied Sciences of Stuttgart. While my Master’s thesis at HFT Stuttgart I did Agent-based simulation for the suitability of biogas power plants, considering the silage maize suitability map and other physical constraints.
After my graduation, I took some additional courses from Stuttgart University of Hohenheim related to GIS and remote sensing applications in agricultural and ecosystem modeling. I also worked as an internee at Kompetenzzentrum Obstbau-Bodensee where I engaged in a project of BigData for the apple orchard. While my internship I was responsible for LIDAR measurements and analyzes of the canopy structure of the apple trees. I was also responsible to collect and analyze hyperspectral data for Cubert GmbH that is also a project partner of BigApple project.
I am looking forward to having a great experience as PhD student at FEM (Fondazione Edmund Mach) in TRuStEE project and I hope I will get opportunities to enhance my knowledge and strengthen my practical skills in the subject of remote sensing for ecosystem modeling.
